After graduating at the top of his carpentry class and building his own successful construction business, Brock brought over 15 years of expertise (and his entire dedicated team!) with him when he partnered with BHDB’s founder, Ben Horning, in 2014.

Founder

Growing up in the homebuilding business sparked Ben’s passion for building and renovating homes. After graduating and working in new construction, he began to buy, renovate and sell homes. He founded BHDB in 2012 and eventually partnered with Brock in 2014.

BRIAN GRING

Sales Consultant

Brian employs over 15 years of experience in the design build field by expertly guiding clients through the initial phases of their project. His primary goal is to make home renovation a smooth and enjoyable experience for each and every BHDB client.

ALICIA HESS

Interior Design Coordinator

Alicia believes in client-focused design and that a home should reflect the unique personalities of the people who live there. She is passionate about using her knowledge of color theory, space planning and current design trends to work hand in hand with our clients to bring their vision to life.

ROY CUSTIS

Structural Designer

Roy comes to BHDB with over 15 years of experience creating residential construction drawings. His goal is to effectively translate customer’s ideas into a structurally sound and functional design. He approaches every project as if it were his own home and loves seeing a project go from 2D sketch and 3D model to an amazing living space.

CHRIS SHUSTACK

Production Manager

Chris has worked alongside Brock since 2002 and brings over 20 years of construction experience to the company. He not only runs numerous projects - ensuring his team and trade partners have the tools to be successful - but is also passionate about teaching the trade to a younger generation of carpenters.

EMILY WEAVER

Office Manager / Bookkeeper

Emily’s passion for organization and attention to detail bring great value to BHDB. She strives to always discover the most efficient systems and processes and utilizes them to help the office run smoothly on a daily basis. She enjoys the hardworking, quality focused atmosphere that she gets to share with her coworkers every day.

MARK FARRELL

Estimator

With a background in construction and project management, Mark has helped thoughtfully create and manage our daily systems. He loves that no two projects are the same and values our teamwork approach to providing the client the very best value.

SHAWN SPATZ

Project Manager

Because of his 20+ years of construction experience, Shawn can remain calm, cool, and collected in the ever-changing (and sometimes stressful) remodeling world. He is a dedicated leader and successful project manager whose patience is always appreciated by his clients and coworkers.

CHRIS HATFIELD

Project Manager

Prior to joining our team in 2019, Chris owned his own construction business whose motto was “Exceeding Expectations, Guaranteed Quality.” When he found BH, he realized we exemplify these same values and felt right at home. He enjoys being part of a team that loves what they do. 

CODY THOMAS

Project Manager

Cody began working for BHDB as a summer intern in 2016 and has been here ever since. He is a dedicated team member and as a Project Manager, he enjoys seeing his clients’ dreams come to life. His humor and fun-loving spirit make it a joy to work with him.

OWEN CONRAD

Project Manager

Owen always knew he wanted to work with his hands and his path led him to become a valuable member of the BHDB team. As a Project Manager, Owen takes pride in applying his organizational skills and attention to detail to his projects.

MADDIE GARBER

Selections Assistant

Maddie has been assisting the design team since 2019 when she began her summer internship during high school. She keeps track of all the selections a client makes throughout the design process. Seeing the elements of a project all come together is the most rewarding part of her job.

HEATHER GARBER

Marketing Manager

With a background in art and writing, Heather joined BH Design + Build in 2019 as a marketing manager. Her eye for design helps her create the elements needed to sing the praises of BHDB to potential clients. But, her favorite part of her job is watching the team bring clients’ dreams to life.
